Our Belated Family 4th of July Celebration

We got together over at my sister Carol's house last weekend since we weren't able to on the 4th. As usual a lot of fun with good food, lively conversation, and the kids getting wet.

Nana with her grand kids

Crazy faces!

Everyone loves to be around Aunt Carol.... she is like the Pied Piper.

Travis has all the kids attention as he sets off some fireworks.

Tonia, Molly, and Tate enjoying the fireworks.

Here I am with my Mom, Mark and Carol. It would have been perfect if Dan and his family were there.... maybe next year.

Travis looks pretty good with that goatee doesn't he? Ahhh, the life of a student!

Here's Mom enjoying Miss Katy and some dessert.

So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedershen, Good-bye (for now)

Yesterday our friends Jon and Shannon moved to Nashville, TN. Travis and Noah went with them to help them out on the other end with unloading the truck.

Ah, the U-Haul truck. I have seen so many of these in my time. It was kind of a relief that it wasn't us packing up the truck yet.... that will come soon enough.

One last picture in front of their house.

So cool.

Even though I will miss you Shannon we will always have Facebook and the new texting plan Travis suggested. Also, we must get together for girls weekends!

Rielly kept insisting that Katy could ride with them to TN.

Take care Harris family! We hope you enjoy your new life in TN :)

Before and After

On the 4th of July Katy broke out into a rash and at first we thought it might be an allergic reaction to something, but when it didn't go away after giving her some Benedryl we thought maybe a virus. She didn't act like it bothered her at all but it looked frightening. I took her to the Dr. the following Monday and she said that it was a very impressive looking rash. And, she confirmed what we thought about it being a virus and there was nothing she could give her... we would just have to ride it out. So, we did and she was better within a day or so.

Here she is when the rash is at it's worst and she is still laughing and smiling.

She is such a happy girl!

Here we are in the car on the way to Boone, NC just 3 days after we went to the Dr. and it's completely gone.

And, here is our precious enjoying some time in the shade at the Highland Games. Look at those cheeks... they look so kissable!

Princess Camp Days 3 &4

Here is Lily on Day 3 as Cinderella...

And here she is as Ariel....

Today was the last day of camp and I think we are both princessed out! It was fun, but being a princess every morning can be a little tiring and besides that, Lily has missed playing with her friends at the gym. I have really missed my morning routine of going to the gym and working out. I'm going to do Body Combat AND Body Pump tomorrow morning!

Princess Camp- Day 2

Today at Princess Camp the girls got to dress up like Jasmine from Aladdin. After it was over she said she didn't have as much fun today because her pants were too big, her shoes were too tight, and she didn't like the way her hair felt up in a bun. So, she lost interest in the class before it was over.

Here they are dancing in a circle...

playing with scarves....

Here is Miss Neta trying to get Lily to come back to the group.... Lily is laughing and running away...too funny!

After class Lily was not willing to stand and pose for me to get a close up picture in her costume... this was about as good as I could get. Lily is playing with Rielly.... we are sad that her family is moving to Nashville this weekend. We're really going to miss them and I especially will miss my new friend Shannon. :(

Grandfather Mountain Marathon and Highland Games

We went to Boone, NC last weekend to see Travis run in the Grandfather Mountain Marathon. We just took Katy with us and were able to enjoy lots of special time with her. Noah stayed with his cousins and Lily stayed with Nana and they each had a nice weekend too... thanks Carol and Mom for showing them such a good time.

Here we are going to pick up his race packet at Applachian State University. What a great campus in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains! I loved Boone and the surrounding area... it was just gorgeous! I wish I had taken more pictures.

The runners ran up Grandfather Mountain and then finish the race running around the field where the Highland games are held. It was really cool. I caught this picture of Travis right before he was about to go in and circle the field at the end.

Here he is right after he crossed the finish line...

Here Travis and Katy are after the race at the marathon tent getting something to drink.

Travis is giving Katy a kiss while she drinks from his water bottle. Too cute!

While we waited for Travis to come in, Katy and I walked around the Highland games and took in all that was going on. You can see some runners in the bottom right corner of the picture running around the field. There was so much going on... games, people playing bagpipes, dancing, bands playing, food booths and a marathon. It was a very exciting place to be!

Some dancers and another runner...

A cute couple and their little baby... there were lots of people there dressed like this. Yes, lots of men in kilts! I learned that these Highland games are the biggest gathering held every year outside of Scotland.

We sat for quite awhile in the shade and listened to some great Celtic music. I love Celtic music and it was just awesome. It made me want to learn some Celtic songs myself on my violin.... hmm, I'll have to look into that.

Katy enjoying a snack and some shade listening to some great music.

Princess Camp- Day 1

Lily has "Princess Camp" this week and today was Snow White. Miss Neta started the class by reading from the story and then the girls put on costumes and danced around telling the story. It's the cutest thing ever!

Stay tuned for more Princess Camp adventures...

Happy 4th of July!

Our morning started out with a pancake breakfast and flag ceremony at the church. The cub scouts participated in it and Noah carried the American flag. It was the first time he ever did anything like that and we were so proud of him. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of that. Several people were asked to stand and tell what freedom meant to them. As I sat and listened to them I thought about how proud I am to be an American and how blessed I am to live in this country where we are allowed so many freedoms.

After breakfast there was a parade for the kids and it was extra special because their cousins Sam, Lucy, and Molly were there to be in it too. Mom had the kids while Mark and Tonia were doing the Peach tree Road Race.

Sam and Lucy are pulling Katy in the wagon...

and Lily and Molly following behind them.

The rest of the day included lunch with Mom, Mark and Tonia and all the kids at Stevi B's. And, then a cookout with friends later in the afternoon. Lots of fun... Happy 4th of July!!
